Interview with our CCO Guido Mix
Guido Mix, Aidian’s new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), started in his role in beginning of March this year. After a few months in the company, we sat down to discuss with him about his first experiences in the company, the point-of-care industry, future plans, and some personal off-work goals as well.
Hi Guido, could you shortly introduce yourself to our audience?
Certainly, my name is Guido Mix and I started working at Aidian a few months ago as Chief Commercial Officer. With over 20 years of experience in the diagnostic industry, I have a strong interest in improving diagnostics to address the current challenges of rising antibiotic resistance, lifestyle-related diseases like diabetes, and demographic changes that lead to more occurrence of chronic diseases and cancer. As a trained physicist I am always curious about innovative technologies and science that enable easy-to-use diagnostic tools.
What were your first impressions and experiences of Aidian?
Aidian's top priority is to provide tools for patient care and quality diagnostic services. This is done by ensuring the highest standards of quality, customer support, and innovation that improve patient outcomes. When I joined the company, I was impressed with the talented and efficient team being there to support customers and delivering diagnostic tools to help guide patients’ treatment.
Could you share your perspective on our company culture after your first months with us?
I feel the company has a very open and trustworthy culture. Solutions are based on strong and proven processes, and there is 50 years of experience in serving the diagnostic and other highly regulated markets, like pharma. Different departments have experts and talents with huge amount of experience in their fields.
What do you see as the main strengths of Aidian?
Main strengths are definitely customer focus and awareness of the customer demands in the point-of-care market. Communicating about diagnostic methods in an excellent way to healthcare professionals from different medical backgrounds is a strength. The evidence of this customer and market focused culture is the delivery of more than 60,000 devices to thousands of healthcare professionals in the field.
When thinking about our industry, what are your keen interests?
Enhancing point-of-care testing. Many countries face overwhelmed or overburdened healthcare systems. They have a need to bring diagnostics closer to the patient to ease the burden on primary care and hospital settings. Using the time with the patients efficiently based on quick and informative tests will improve patient care and outcome.
As you look to the future, what are you most excited about achieving next?
Point-of-care testing is not fully established in all countries and markets yet, so I’m hoping we can bring these solutions there and ultimately to just be able to help the healthcare sector. Especially in countries that may struggle with resources or an overburdened healthcare system, as we know how point-of-care testing can be beneficial.
I’m also interested in bringing new diagnostic analytes to the market, for example biomarkers for early point-of-care testing for the increasing diseases of civilisation. There is tremendous possibilities in the field which I’m really excited about. With an innovative R&D team in the company, I hope we can match some yet unmet demands and really help the path of patient care. At the end of the day, it’s all about the patients and how we can help the healthcare sector.
What is your work life related passion?
It’s the employees who make the company and create the culture we work in. In my role, I want to do all I can to create an environment where my team and colleagues feel good, safe, and motivated to work in. I want to take care of the people I work with and solve any issues that might be preventing them from reaching their full potential.
As a final question, can you still share something about yourself that we can’t find on your resume?
I’m a huge football fan and supporter of my home team, Werder Bremen. I also love hiking and have a goal to reach some specific summits of over 5,000 meters. I’m already planning my next hiking trip to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
Sounds really exciting! Thank you so much Guido – it has been really inspiring to talk with you.
