ELITechGroup's gastrointestinal pathogen portfolio expands

Infectious diarrheas are a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, mainly in young children, the elderly, and the immunocompromised. Gastrointestinal infections can be caused by viruses, bacteria or parasites. In developing countries enteric viral, bacterial pathogens and parasites are the leading cause of infectious diarrhea.

ELITechGroup's ever-growing test menu now includes a total of 47 CE-IVD real-time PCR assays. All in all ten gastrointestinal pathogens can now be investigated with a fully automated ELITe Ingenius solution. In addition to the existing Norovirus and Gastrointestinal viral ELITe panels, two VIASURE assay panels by CerTest BIOTEC have now been included to ELITech's portfolio for bacterial and parasitic investigations.

The VIASURE Cryptosporidium, Giardia & E. histolytica Real Time PCR Detection Kit is intended for qualitative detection of Cryptosporidium, Giardia lamblia and/or Entamoeba histolytica. The VIASURE Salmonella, Campylobacter & Shigella/EIEC Real Time PCR Detection Kit is aimed for qualitative detection of Salmonella, Campylobacter and Shigella/enteroinvasive Escherichia coli (EIEC). Both kits are CE-IVD validated on ELITe Ingenius, and soon to be validated on ELITe BeGenius.
