Uricult was introduced for the first time 50 years ago and has since then become a well-recognised trademark for its high quality. All Uricult dipslide products enable estimation of the microbial count and if needed, the growth can be cultured further from the Uricult slide for identification and susceptibility testing of the organisms. Susceptibility testing is important especially for patients with high risk for resistance and complications1.
Over the years Uricult culture slides have developed to meet the changing user needs without losing any of the features which in first place made it a success all over the world. Orion Diagnostica now offers three different Uricult products: Classic Uricult for detection of urinary tract infections, Uricult Plus for detection of enterococci, and Uricult Trio for detection of E. coli.
Tackle antimicrobial resistance with Uricult
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common infections in people, more so in women and girls2. Culturing makes it possible to identify unusual or resistant organisms. As inappropriate use of antibiotics has been recognised as one of the major causes for the development of antimicrobial resistance, it is important, in UTI as in other infections, to prescribe antibiotics only when needed3. On-site diagnostic tests help to reduce antibiotic prescription4.
